After being held to a total of 67 yards rushing in the first six games, the Beavers' defense put up a total of 238 yards on the Florida Gators. The defense gave up just three first downs and a total of 30 yards after the catch.
The Beavers had not given up at least 400 rushing yards in a game this year before Texas A&M's 546. The Beavers didn't allow a 100-yard rusher this year, but with an injury to Martinez, A&M's Jackie Battle gained 108 yards on 12 attempts. Battle scored the Beavs' lone touchdown on a 37-yard run.

USC rushed for a whopping 263 yards on the day, and the Trojans average nearly 11 yards per carry. Barkley was 6-of-9 passing for 75 yards, and Marcus Lattimore had 26 yards rushing on four carries.
