In this page of the Overwatch 2 wiki, we will show you how to customize your crosshair in Overwatch 2 and show you a couple of the best crosshair settings that Overwatch 2 pros use.
Overwatch 2 allows you to customize your crosshair for each individual Hero. This is an invaluable tool, as you will often find that different styles of crosshairs better suit certain types of heroes.
Most pro-level Overwatch 2 players agree that the best crosshair setting is a small reticle with high contrast to the in-game environment. How you customize your crosshair in Overwatch 2 is largely up to preference, however.
The best crosshair settings can also differ between Heroes. For instance, a Hero such as Reinhardt who relies on a melee weapon might not benefit from a small crosshair. In fact, Reinhardt's default crosshair setting is none at all!
When picking what color you want your crosshair or reticle to be in Overwatch 2, you must consider what color options provide the strongest contrast. A crosshair that strongly contrasts against the environment or Heroes you are targeting will make it easier for you to practice your aim.
Neon Green, Magenta, or Cyan are great crosshair color options in Overwatch 2. These are the crosshair colors that most pro-level Overwatch 2 players tend to use, as they stand out against both dark and bright Map environments, and do not blend in when aiming at enemy Heroes.
While the color you customize your crosshair is purely up to preference, White and Black can make it difficult to tell your reticle apart from the environment depending on the brightness of the current Map. On the other hand, while a Red crosshair might seem like a good option, if your Enemy UI Color is set to the default Red, your crosshair will blend right in with the enemy you are attempting to target.
Generally, you want to have Show Accuracy set to "Off" in your Reticle settings. What this setting does is adjusts the size of your crosshair in real-time to show you the "spread" of your weapon.
This Circle reticle is ideal for Heroes that wield shotguns and other wide-spread weapons. The Dot at the center of the crosshair can still help you prioritize headshots, while the "Show Accuracy" setting will show you the effective spread of your weapon fire in real-time.
Open the console and type the following command:cl_crosshaircolor Now depending on the value assigned, you will have several color variations: 0 for green- default 1 for red 2 for blue 3 for yellow 4 for Paleblue ...
Choosing the perfect crosshair is no easy task in VALORANT. Players can spend hours experimenting with different colors, sizes, and general appearances to get the crosshair that will give them the best precision possible.
To change your crosshair to a dot, there are 3 commands required. The first is cl_crosshairstyle, which sets the style (shape) of your crosshair, the second is cl_crosshairdot, which enables the dot in the middle of your crosshair. And finally cl_crosshairsize, which changes the size of the outer lines of your crosshair. We've compiled the settings you need to set with these commands into a single easily copyable command. Simply copy and paste the below into your console to set your crosshair to a dot:
Crosshair size in CS:GO is, unsurprisingly, controlled by the cl_crosshairsize command. This command is relatively simple to use. This would set your crosshair size to the default size (for classic crosshair style):
To change your crosshair size to something other than the default, simply replace NUMBER with your desired crosshair size in the below command. Most players will have a size between 2 and 10. A larger number at the end will make your crosshair bigger, a smaller number at the end will make your crosshair smaller.
You can change the thickness of your crosshair in CS:GO with the cl_crosshairthickness command. Like the cl_crosshairsize command, this command takes a number at the end that changes how thick your crosshair is. The default setting for crosshair thickness is 1, to set your thickness to default, use this command:
To change your crosshair's thickness to something other than the default value, replace NUMBER in the below example to your desired thickness. A higher number will make your crosshair more thick. You can specify decimal thickness (e.g. 0.5).
We will breakdown the necessary settings below and explain in detail how to set a dot as your primary aim. Players can also add the console commands to their config files so that the next time they launch CS:GO a dot crosshair will be awaiting them in-game.
Retired Belgian CS:GO player Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom made the dot crosshair famous after he started using it in Valorant, from where it has now jumped over to CS:GO as well. So all the players who are thinking of trying out this dot aim, here are some crosshair related console commands that you need to know.
There are five different types of crosshairs available in CS:GO and players can select a value between 0 - 4 to select anyone of them. The most preferred crosshair styles are 2, 3, 4. The remaining values generate default crosshairs which are quite terrible and cannot be modified further.
This particular setting determines the colour of the crosshair and players can select a value between 0 - 5 to select anyone of them. The six colour options available are, 0 = red, 1 = green, 2 = yellow, 3 = blue, 4 = cyan, 5 = custom.
The custom colour value can be set through these three console commands; cl_crosshair_r, cl_crosshair_b, cl_crosshair_g. Players can select a value between 0 - 255 for each of these three commands to create a custom crosshair colour. These three settings represent red, blue, and green colour strengths, combining them results in a new colour.
This setting is helpful in adjusting the transparency of the crosshair. Players can select a value between 0 - 255 which determines the visibility of the crosshair. It is highly recommended to always keep this setting at 255 which helps the crosshair standout in front of any type of background.
This is one of the most important settings and is used for adjusting the size or length of the crosshair. The default value is 5 but most people prefer it anywhere between 2 - 3.5, anything more than the default value is not recommended.
This particular setting helps in adjusting the thickness or width of the crosshair. The default value of 0.5 is considered to be good enough, but if you are facing difficulties than one can increase it.
cl_crosshairalpha "255" cl_crosshaircolor "5" cl_crosshaircolor_b "255" cl_crosshaircolor_r "255" cl_crosshaircolor_g "255" cl_crosshairdot "1" cl_crosshairgap "-3" cl_crosshairsize "0" cl_crosshairstyle "4" cl_crosshairusealpha "1" cl_crosshairthickness "1" cl_fixedcrosshairgap "-3" cl_crosshair_outlinethickness "1" cl_crosshair_drawoutline "1"
This is the most basic CS:GO dot crosshair setting which can be further modified by you as per personal preference, comfort, and need. However, some settings need to stay as they are and should not be changed to maintain aim in the shape of a dot.
cl_crosshairalpha "255" cl_crosshaircolor "1" cl_crosshaircolor_b "0" cl_crosshaircolor_r "0" cl_crosshaircolor_g "255" cl_crosshairdot "1" cl_crosshairgap "-3" cl_crosshairsize "0" cl_crosshairstyle "4" cl_crosshairusealpha "1" cl_crosshairthickness "1.5" cl_fixedcrosshairgap "-3" cl_crosshair_outlinethickness "2" cl_crosshair_drawoutline "1"
This is the most common CS:GO dot crosshair used by players. It is a well-balanced crosshair with good visibility across all maps. Green is the most recognizable colour and the slight black outline makes it impossible for players to lose the crosshair even in front of bright textures.
Now that you know all the console commands related to CS:GO crosshairs and have even figured out how to create a dot crosshair. Let us now show you how to actually get them in-game. There are two ways to obtain a dot crosshair in CS:GO,
CS:GO offers a wide range of possibilities to customize your crosshair, but unfortunately most of the commands are not accessible through the game options and you need to know the console commands to activate them. This guide shows you all existing crosshair commands and helps you with additional explanations.
First of all, we highly recommend you to start a local server without bots to test different settings on different maps. A yellow crosshair might look good on de_nuke, but cause problems on brighter maps like de_dust2, so you will need to play around with some values. If you found your preferred settings, you should write them into your config/autoexec/valve.rc to save them permanently. Also keep in mind, that some of these settings will look different on different resolutions. All the images below were made with 1920×1080 ingame resolution.
